Carlos Allen Schlenker Sr., 70, of Borden, Indiana, was born on August 30, 1955 and passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 surrounded by people he loved. He was a strong and loving father, mentor, and best friend - a man who believed in tough love, honesty, and standing his ground.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Schlenker; his son, CJ Schlenker; his brother, Jeff Schlenker; his sister, Carmen Schlenker; his beautiful granddaughter, Chelsey Noe; his grandson, Jaxon Shaw; and his mother-in-law, Rose Shirley.
Carlos is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Karen Schlenker, who stood beside him through every up and down life threw their way. He is also survived by his children, Carmen Truman (Damon), Jeremy Schlenker, TC Shaw, Kodi Schlenker, Josh Schlenker, Nathan Vandiver, and Joseph Vandiver; grandchildren, Koal Truman, Sarah Mills (Aaron), Dylan Vandiver (Jessie), Ellie Shaw, and Luke Shaw; great-grandchildren, Harlow Mills, Maverick Mills, Ryker Mills, Keaton Vandiver, Grayson Vandiver, and Charlie Vandiver.
Carlos proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a hardworking provider who always stood by his wife and kids - even when they were wrong. He leaves behind many friends and family members who will miss his strength, sarcasm, and the way he made his presence known wherever he went.
Carlos was a man who lived life on his own terms. You either loved him or hated him - there was no in-between. He loved his motorcycle rides, his time in the woods, and the peace he found in both.
Though he may be gone from sight, his love, lessons, and larger-than-life spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
It's never "Goodbye!", it's only "Til' next time".
