Carlos Burbage Ramsey, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 10, 2026, in Sellersburg, Indiana. He was 87 years old.
Born on April 15, 1938, in Derby, Indiana, Carlos was the son of John and Catherine (Carr) Ramsey. Throughout his life, Carlos demonstrated a steadfast dedication to his family, Catholic faith, and work. He served honorably in the United States Army Reserves. Following his service, Carlos embarked on a career with Ford Motor Company, from which he retired after 32 years of service.
Known for his meticulous nature, particularly when it came to his yard, Carlos took great pride in maintaining a beautiful and welcoming home. He was always quick to hand out a compliment and share with others how proud he was of his family.
At an early age, while living with his grandpa, Carlos Carr, Carlos developed a passion for hunting. He also had a love of the game of golf that provided him much enjoyment over the years. As a longtime member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church, his faith was a central pillar of his life, guiding him and serving as an inspiration to his family.
In addition to his parents, Carlos was preceded in death by his son, Bruce, and siblings, Jessie Beard, Wayne Ramsey, Sandra May, and Carolyn Byrd.
He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 63 years, Carolyn (Emmick) Ramsey, his sons, John (Amy), Kevin, Brad, his daughter, Brandy Hettinger (Chad), along with his grandchildren, Ryan, Erica (Adam), Riley, Mallory, Harper, Audrey, Ava, and Hudson, and his great-granddaughters, Scout and Sloane.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany. Carols' funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 16, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, 2253 W. St. Joe Road, Sellersburg, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
