Carlin Jean Claxon-Raymer

November 3, 1949 — April 2, 2021

Carlin J.R. "Judy" Claxon-Raymer
November 3, 1949 - April 2, 2021

Our Mother, our Grandmother, our Sister, our Aunt, our Friend, Judy Claxon-Raymer, went to be with her Lord on April 2, 2021.
Judy was born in Gainesboro, TN where she spent her childhood, and always referred to Cookeville, TN as her home. She moved to Louisville, KY in her teenage years with her foster family, the Wakefield's.
Although Judy worked a variety of jobs, the one she enjoyed the most, whether being compensated for it or not, was that of being a caregiver. It is well-known that she cared for others better than caring for herself. She wanted the best for everyone and would do all she could to provide that for people.
Judy found joy in the simple things in life. She enjoyed yard sales, where she was always looking to find a bargain, hoping to strike it rich by finding a rare item, or just having the opportunity to speak with someone and make a new friend. She enjoyed taking trips, and in the past few years she was able to visit places including Europe and South America with friends. On a recent trip to Jamaica, friends witnessed an example of her frequent generosity when she gave someone in need the sweater off of her back. Above all, she found the most joy in spending time with family and friends, especially when she had the opportunity to prepare a meal for them.
Judy is survived by her sons, Wesley Scott Claxon (Jennifer), Joshua Alan Claxon, her granddaughter Maddie Shae Claxon, her Grandpup BamBam, and her Great-Grandpup Kunu. Surviving family members include Donna Ruth Valenzuela, Wanda Gail Muir, Joanna Sue Kokenos, Patricia Connie Richardson, Johnny Edward Richardson, Mary Kathryn Danner, Steve Wakefield, Judy Shero, Boone Eldridge, Janice Ingram, Kathy Henton, Tony Wakefield, Jon Wakefield, and too many nieces, nephews and friends to count.
She is preceded in death by her husband Shannon Raymer, her parents William Jessie Richardson and Mildred Pauline Scott Richardson, her "dad" Howard Wakefield, her "mother" Opal "Ginny" Wakefield-Johnson, her "step-dad" Max "Papa Max" Johnson, brothers William Arvil Richardson, William Audney Scott, William James Richardson, Elmer Lee Richardson, John Henry Richardson, and sisters Edna Mae Richardson, Christine Rhotten, Zulu Murphy, and Mary Francis Pennington.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, between 4-7pm, with Tony Wakefield speaking on behalf of the family at 6:30pm. The service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Middletown location.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to your favorite charity, in honor of Judy Claxon-Raymer.
