Carl William Byrne, aged 70, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026. Born on January 11, 1956, in Corydon, Indiana, Carl devoted a significant portion of his life to a distinguished career as an engineer, contributing his expertise to MedVenture and Robinson Nugent.
Carl was much more than a skilled engineer; he was an avid outdoorsman that also had a deep passion for automobiles. Whether he was working on cars or enjoying the thrill of watching races, his enthusiasm for the automotive world was a defining element of his life.
He was the son of Elmo and Wanda (Kitner) Byrne. Along with his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his children, Carla Marissa Byrne and Nicholas Stewart Byrne, as well as his sister, Paula Lee.
Carl is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Debbie (Stewart) Byrne. He is also survived by his children, Jennifer Potts and Joey Byrne, his grandchildren, Jorden Bishop (James), Aaron Noble, and Bryana Noble, as well as his great-grandchildren, Brody Bishop, Murphy Bishop, and Niomi Noble, all of whom brought Carl joy and pride in his later years. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters, Anita Best (Bill) and Dr. Brenda Adams (Michael).
A visitation to honor Carl’s memory will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany. Visitation will continue on Saturday morning after 10:00 a.m., leading up to his funeral service, which will commence at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the service, Carl will be laid to rest at Wolfe Cemetery.
