Carl "Buddy" Murphy, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on January 11, 1934, Buddy grew up in Highland Park, where he developed a quiet demeanor that endeared him to many.
He proudly served his country as an Army veteran, receiving the Good Conduct Medal for his commitment and dedication during his service. Buddy's contributions to the community extended beyond his military service; he was known for his reserved nature and thoughtful presence in the lives of those around him. He was a member of the Teamsters 89.
In his leisure time, Buddy found joy in the game of bowling, a sport that brought him many happy moments and friendships over the years at Ken Bowl. He also had a passion for basketball and was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, often sharing his enthusiasm for the team with fellow supporters.
Buddy's life will be honored with visitation on July 31, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A funeral service will be held the following day, August 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Mae Murphy; daughter, Terri Murphy; infant son; sisters, Pauline Fields and Louise Metcalf; brother, Billy Murphy and in-laws, Woodrow and Marie Marcum.
Buddy leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 66 years, Barbara Murphy; son Robert "Bo" (Trina) Murphy; grandchildren, Sarah Murphy, Ashlea Murphy and Robby Murphy; great-grandson, D.J.; niece, Barbara Ann (Robert) Poole and extended family and friends.
His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we gather to celebrate his life, we remember Buddy as a person of quiet strength and steadfast loyalties, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and integrity.
