Carin Lee Duglin

October 20, 1941 — November 14, 2020

Carin Lee Duglin earned her angel wings on November 14th, 2020. Carin was born to the late Edna Simpson Cartmell on October 20th, 1941 (an early gift for her mother's 21st birthday on October 21st, 1941). Carin graduated from Blanchester High School in Blanchester, Ohio in 1959. She was pleased to attend her 60th class reunion in May 2019 and visit with classmates. After high school, she attended Bethesda School of Nursing and worked for doctors Goldman and Preston as a medical assistant in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1963 Carin was hired by Lake Central Airlines as a "stewardess". She and her mom traveled to Florida, California, Hawaii, Alaska, and Amsterdam, Holland together. With several mergers the airline company became US Airways. Her career, as now "flight attendant", continued until retirement in 2002. Carin met Richard Duglin and they were together for over 50 years, marrying in 1971. Carin loved her job of flying and also traveling the world on vacations with her husband. They enjoyed trips to many states including yearly trips to Hawaii for 12 years. Also to Paradise Island, Puerto Rico, Saint Martin, Haiti, Germany, France, Portugal, England, Japan, and Dubai.

Their son, Joshua, the joy of his mother's life, was born in 1977.

After retirement Carin volunteered her time with the Airport Ambassador program at Louisville International Airport's information booth, the Louisville Science Center, The Animal Care Society, and ushering at Actor's Theatre. She loved cats and adopted many "rescue cats" during her life. Besides travel, Carin also enjoyed oil painting, reading, and collecting cat cookie jars and teapots. She also liked keeping in touch with friends by phone and email.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard; her son, Joshua Louis Duglin; stepson, Gary Duglin; step-daughter, Deborah Klein (husband Jeff;, step-granddaughter, Sydney Cohn (husband Seth); step-grandson, Harrison Klein; stepson, Wayne Duglin (wife Heather); step-grandson, Matthew Duglin; her many cousins, her beloved pet cats Opal and Sunshine, and her dear friends, Judy, Joyce, Marilyn, Monika, Carrie, Susan, Joann, Marilynn, and Sue.

Waiting to meet her at heaven's gate are her mother Edna, uncles Bud and John, friends Charlene and Jill, and grandparents Ellis Tignel Cartmell, Emma Cartmell, Walter Simpson, and Violet Simpson.

Instead of flowers, donations may be made to The Blanchester Historical Society, 103 E Center Street, Blanchester, OH 45107, or Animal House Adoption Center, 3528 Newburg Road, Louisville, KY 40218.
