C. Stuart (Stu) Riley, 75, passed away, Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Norton Women's Kosair Children's Hospital, with his wife and daughter by his side.
He was born December 1, 1939 in Staten Island, NY to the late Charles H. and Esther S. Riley. He spent most of his growing up years in Louisville, KY, graduating from Fern Creek High School in 1958. He was active in scouting for many years, and was proud of earning his Eagle Scout designation. He attended the University of Kentucky, where he met the love of his life, Sharon, graduating from there in 1962. He spent most of his career working in the computer field, starting at UK in its early days. He taught one of the first programming courses offered there at the university.
He worked for Farm Credit Services, specifically the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank for a number of years. After retiring from there, he spent several years as owner and operator of Grand Rental Station in Jeffersontown, KY. Stu was a Mayflower decendent and an active member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
He has been a long time member of Middletown Christian Church, serving as an elder, as board chairman for two consecutive terms, sitting on multiple committees, participating in missions in Honduras, and feeding the homeless at Wayside Christian Mission. He enjoyed woodworking, home renovation, traveling and had his private pilot's license.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sharon Cornell Riley; his daughter, Carole Riley Sweat (Dan); granddaughter, Meghan Kaye Boudreau; grandson, Christian Riley Boudreau; brother, Peter S. Riley; sister, Inga C. Sukut and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU and 5 West at Norton Women's Kosair Children's Hospital for their care and support during this difficult time.
Visitation will be at Middletown Christian Church, 500 N. Watterson Trail, Louisville, KY 40223, on Thursday, May 21, 2015, 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 3:00pm.
