Dr. C. Thomas Kirk of Prospect, Kentucky passed away on June 27, 2025 after a short, courageous battle with advanced metastatic prostate cancer. He was born on January 2, 1951 in Owensboro, Kentucky, the son of the late Arnold E. Kirk and Doris Hedden Kirk.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Kathryn Dever Kirk; his children, Kevin Thomas Kirk (Caskie) of Danville, Virginia, and Elizabeth Kirk Truelove (Danny) of Maryville, Tennessee; and his beloved grandchildren: Dylan, Rowan, Helen, and Jameson Kirk and Hadley and Wesley Truelove. He is also survived by his brother, Jon Alan Kirk, (the late Judy), his mother-in-law, Julia Dever (the late Robert H. Jr.) as well as a loving extended family.

Dr. Kirk graduated from Bradford Area High School in Bradford, Pennsylvania, in 1969. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky in 1973, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 1977. He completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio in 1981.

He began his medical career at Trover Clinic in Madisonville, Kentucky, and later practiced in Georgetown, Kentucky. He completed his distinguished career in OB-GYN at Woods Memorial Hospital in Etowah, Tennessee. After retiring from Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2004 he continued serving patients as a Wound Care Physician at Norton-Brownsboro Wound Care Center, Louisville, KY

Throughout his career, Dr. Kirk was widely respected for the relationships he formed with his patients, colleagues, and staff. His compassion, dedication, giving nature, and sense of humor left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Beyond his professional life, Dr. Kirk was a lover of music, history, a good book, sports, and of course Kentucky Basketball. GO CATS!

He especially cherished the annual family trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, a tradition that brought the family together year after year.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
