Byron Duke Howe, a dedicated and hardworking man, passed away on February 10, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on March 16, 1942, in Louisville, he exemplified devotion throughout his life, whether it was in his career or his passions.
Byron enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Welder at Cissell Manufacturing, where he worked diligently for 40 years before retiring. His commitment to his work reflected his strong work ethic and determination to provide for his family.
An avid stock car racing enthusiast, Byron's love for the sport started at an early age. In the 1960s and 1970's, he embraced the thrill of racing as a driver at the Louisville Fairground Motor Speedway. This passion showcased not only his adventurous spirit but also his readiness to give 100% in everything he pursued.
Proudly serving our country, Byron enlisted in the United States Army, demonstrating his dedication to protecting and serving. His military service is a testament to his character and sense of responsibility.
Byron leaves behind his cherished daughters, Angela Howe and Rebekah (Ray) Gatlin, along with his beloved grandchildren, Alexandria and Jonathan Gatlin. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Grace, and niece, Amy Flewellen. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mitzi Howe, and his sister, Nancy Herr.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272, on Thursday, February 19th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Friday, February 20th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on the same day, starting at 1:00 PM. He will then be laid to rest at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Cemetery.
Byron Duke Howe will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his career, and his passions. His legacy of hard work, love, and determination will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
