Bruce N. Hosie

March 8, 1948 — February 21, 2015

Bruce N. Hosie, age 66, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Norman Hosie, and is survived by his mother, Marie Hosie, of Lexington, Kentucky, who he loved dearly, and many cousins. Born in Paterson, New Jersey on March 8, 1948, Bruce moved to Lexington, Kentucky with his family in 1963. Following high school graduation he then attended Morehead State University and moved to Louisville in 1971, and had a career with IBM/Kodak followed by working at Martco, Inc. for the remainder of his career. Bruce was a proud reservist in the United States Marine Corps as Tank Commander in "A" Company, 8th Tank Battalion, Force Troops, FMF and was awarded a Meritorious Mast in May of 1975, stating in part that "Sgt. Hosie's leadership by his own example has had a positive effect on the entire company and his total dedication to duty, personal motivation and outstanding attitude contributed directly to the accomplishment of the mission of "A" Company, 8th Tank Battalion," and "his exemplary performance of duty reflected great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the United States Marine Corps." Bruce was made an honorary Kentucky Colonel through an IBM-sponsored program for his work with youth. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, many genres of music including playing rhythm and lead guitar in the band "The Old Guys", growing grapes and making wine (bottled under the label Chateau de Fern Creek), and a good poker game. He possessed a wealth of information and was very talented in many craftsman and technical disciplines.

Cremation was chosen and according to his wishes, his ashes will be scattered by his Mother and neighbors and good friends Mary and Charlie Cartwright in early Spring.

The family suggests that memorial gifts can be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or the charity of your choice.

Semper Fi and our love to you Bruce!
