Bruce Fairfax Corby, 68, of Lanesville, Indiana, died at his home on Thursday, April 20, 2017, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born on August 28, 1948, in Pewee Valley, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Joyce (Fairfax) Corby. Bruce was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Peyton Corby.
Bruce was a 1966 graduate of Clarksville High School and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Army Security Agency from 1967 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. He retired as the Vice President from Hall Contracting Corporation in 2004 after a 33-year career. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lanesville, previously serving as Chairman on the Board of Elders and President of the Congregation. He also served on the Executive Board of Directors of Right to Life of Southern Indiana.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Doris A. (Flint) Corby; sisters, Mary Lynn Corby, Donna Barrett, Paula Corby, Alice Willis (Randy), and Beth Hutton (Danny); 17 nieces and nephews; 26 great-nieces and nephews; 6 great-great-nieces and nephews; and 4 soon-to-be-born nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many close and special neighbors and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lanesville with military honors and a celebration luncheon to follow. Burial will be private.
