A Life of Service and Family

Bruce J. Block , 77, passed away on June 26, 2026 in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on December 6, 1948, Bruce was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a deeply loyal friend to many. A lifelong resident of Louisville, Bruce was a proud graduate of Trinity High School and went on to earn his degree from Bellarmine University. He carried the pride of being a Shamrock with him throughout his life, but when it came to local sports, his true passion belonged to the Louisville Cardinals. Bruce was a fixture in the stands, regularly attending football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball games, cheering on the Cards with unmatched enthusiasm.

For many years, Bruce served his community as a financial advisor and insurance broker, owning and operating his own business, Block & Associates . He dedicated his career to working closely with local families and companies, helping them make smart decisions about saving money, protecting their loved ones, and planning for retirement. He was widely known for his absolute dedication to his work and his deep commitment to his clients across the Kentuckiana area. Bruce was reunited with his beloved wife of 57 years, Betty (Kamber) Block, who passed away in July 2024. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, community, and service to others. Known for his leadership, warmth, and generous spirit, Bruce also spent many years as a community coach, investing his time in mentoring young people and teaching the values of teamwork and character. He was the kind of man who never met a stranger, offering a listening ear, a steady hand, and a lifelong friendship to everyone who crossed his path.

Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents, Stanley and Camilla Block; and his parents-in-law, Charles and Lucille Kamber.

His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his four children: Mike Block (Becky Huelsman), Steve Block (Lauren), Tom Block (Stacy), and Amy Hill (Fred). He was a proud and loving grandfather to his eight grandchildren: Kelby, Matt, Haley, Katie, Abby, Hayden, Maddie, and Christopher. He is also survived by a large circle of extended family, clients, and lifelong friends.
