Brian “Chris” Christopher Whitcomb, fondly known by many as Chris or “Big Show,” passed away on July 1, 2026, at the age of 43. Born on October 1, 1982, Chris filled every day of his life with warmth, humor, and a deep love for his family and passions.
Chris was a proud graduate of Portland Christian High School, class of 2001. Throughout his life, the lessons he learned and the friendships he made during his school years shaped his generous character and sense of loyalty—traits that he carried with him both personally and professionally.
For fifteen years, Chris dedicated himself to his work at Luther Luckett Correctional Complex. His commitment and professionalism were respected by colleagues, and his integrity was evident in all he did. Chris approached his career with a sense of responsibility and a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of those around him.
Outside of his professional life, Chris was recognized for his myriad interests and the sheer joy he found in collecting. He was an avid collector of videos and movie memorabilia, with a particular enthusiasm for movie props—a passion that reflected his lifelong love of cinema. Friends and family could always count on Chris for lively conversations about favorite films, and his deep knowledge made him a go-to resource for all things movies. His collection was a source of pride and delight, and he loved to share his favorite finds with those he cared about.
Those who knew Chris understood that while movies, cars, and collectibles brought him excitement, his deepest joys came from his relationships. Chris was a devoted father to his beloved son, Xander—his proudest accomplishment. His love and support for Xander were unwavering, and he took every opportunity to share in his son’s adventures and achievements. Chris celebrated family milestones with great enthusiasm and treasured moments spent together.
Chris was also a cherished son to Annette and Brian Whitcomb, and a supportive brother to Nick (Brittany) Whitcomb. His warmth and kindness extended to his nephews Brayden and Jayden and niece Izzy, who will remember their uncle for his sense of fun and understanding nature.
A lover of cats, Chris welcomed the companionship and comfort of his feline friends, always finding time for them in his busy life. His home was filled with laughter, storytelling, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures.
