Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Brenda Henderson, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend and cherished member of her community. Brenda was born on May 20, 1952, in Louisville, KY, and she departed this life on April 30, 2026. Her journey was marked by an extraordinary dedication to family, faith, and service.

Brenda was the embodiment of a true matriarch—her spirit radiated warmth, compassion, and strength. Known as the life of every gathering, she brought joy and light to those around her with her infectious energy and loving heart. Whether she was dancing, running, lifting weights, or walking, Brenda loved to move, reflecting her vibrant and active nature.

Her career was one defined by hard work and loyalty. Brenda dedicated two decades of her life, from 1999 until her retirement in 2019, to Mother’s Cookies, where her commitment and diligence left an enduring legacy. Beyond her professional life, Brenda lived out her calling as an ordained minister, deeply grounded in her faith. She was an active member of Church on the Rock in Louisville, and she took immense pride in encouraging and motivating others to follow Christ’s path. Her spirituality was a cornerstone of her existence and a source of strength to all who knew her.

Brenda’s family and community hold countless memories of her boundless generosity and kindness. She was always willing to give her time, resources, and love to others, embodying the true spirit of a giver. Her caring nature made her a pillar in her community—a trusted friend and a guiding light in times of need.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughters LaShawn “Toby” Henderson and Tiffanie (Wayne) White; her grandchildren TaeSean, TaeciAnn, Wayne, Toryon, and TreySean; and her great-grandchildren Toryon Jr., Talinaa, Amani, and Jayvion. Brenda was also a devoted sister to Jackie Briggs, Valerie Briggs, Thelma Briggs, and Angie Perry. Though saddened by her loss, her family draws comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her, including her mother Lillian Briggs and her aunt Thelma Doty, her brother Clarence Briggs, sisters Earline Briggs, Louise Briggs and Shirley Briggs and her brothers, Billy Briggs and Felix Briggs.
