Brenda J. Boyd

February 12, 1941 — June 15, 2019

Brenda J. Boyd, 78, of Elizabeth, Indiana, left this world filled with pain and illness Saturday, June 15, 2019. She was surrounded with love by her daughter, Tammy Puckett, and granddaughter, Andrea Puckett, and close family friend, Ruby Geary.

Brenda was preceded in death by both of her ex-husbands, Stanley Boyd and Robert Leonard. She was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Irvin Hoover and Alta (Duncan) Mahurin; and brother, Darrell Hoover.

Those left behind to carry on her memory are daughter, Tammy Puckett (Michael); granddaughter, Andrea Puckett; brother, Robert Hoover; three nephews; one sister-in-law; one great-niece and one-great nephew; and five great-great-nieces.

Brenda led an interesting life by becoming the first female funeral director in Jefferson County, Kentucky. She was also a cook for American Commercial Barge Line. But the most important job she had was as a mother and grandmother. Although the family grieves her passing, we are so thankful that she no longer has to endure the pain that her body felt.

Brenda requested that she be cremated and that there be no funeral ceremony. Instead, a gathering of family and friends will be held in the near future. She also requested that in lieu of flowers and cards, please make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959). Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions were entrusted with her care.
