Brenda Agee, née Stivers, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on October 14, 2026. She was born on April 27, 1944, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, and will be remembered as a gentle, caring woman with a great sense of humor, a strong love for God, and a fierce devotion to her family.
Brenda devoted herself to both family and community. She worked as an assistant librarian at many elementary schools, a role that reflected her love of helping and teaching children. In every part of her life, she was known as someone who welcomed others warmly and cared deeply for those around her. To many, she was truly a mother to everyone.
Her family was the center of her life and her proudest accomplishment was being a mom, Nana, and wife. She was celebrated as the best wife, mother, and nana. Her love was felt in the countless ways she cared for her home and the people in it. Brenda loved to cook and was always in pursuit of the perfect fudge, while her award-winning bourbon balls became a favorite part of family gatherings and holiday celebrations. She especially loved Christmas, bringing joy and warmth to the season for those she loved.
Brenda also found happiness in the simple and lasting comforts of life. She enjoyed puzzle books, was a great seamstress, and was known for a generous heart that never denied a pet—except for snakes. Her life was marked by kindness, faith, humor, and a deep capacity to love everyone she met.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Neal Agee; her sons, Todd Agee (Paula) and Tim Agee (Tara); her sister, Sandra Scott; her brother, Robert Stivers; and her grandchildren, Jacob Agee, Gabi Agee, and Isabella Kent. Each of them carries forward the love, guidance, and steady presence that Brenda gave so freely throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clifton Stivers; her mother, Molly Stivers; and her brother, Gary Stivers.
Visitation will be held on October 24, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243. A funeral service will follow there on October 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
