Born on December 25, 1940, in Nelson County, Kentucky, The memories of her upbringing on a farm, under the nurturing care of her grandparents, Elmer and Nancy Goff, formed the bedrock of her character, instilling within her a deep-rooted appreciation for family and the simple joys of life.
Bonnie's life was a testament to her nurturing spirit. A true caregiver by nature, she dedicated herself not merely to her family, but to all those fortunate enough to know her. Her loving nature and caring soul were evident in every aspect of her existence. She took great pride in being a mother to her sons, Ricky A. Lewis and Stephen H. Lewis, always striving to provide for them and ensure their wellbeing. With a heart full of love, she extended herself to her daughter in-law, Elva Lewis and to her grandchildren, Dustin and Tara Wilson, and to her great-grandchildren, Jaelynn, Blaze, and Asher Wilson, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
After 39 years of marriage with her cherished husband, Urbie Lawson, Bonnie exemplified the very essence of partnership, navigating life's joys and challenges together with unwavering dedication. Through her commitment to family and community, she nurtured a legacy that will resonate within her loved ones for generations to come. Her half siblings, Tina Krages, Billy Goff, Bob Goff, and Barry Goff, join in celebrating the life of a woman whose impact was profound and lasting.
Her father William H. Goff, step mother, Minnie Goff, her beloved grandparents, Elmer and Nancy Goff, her previous husband and father of her sons, Delbert L. Lewis, have passed, their memories are interwoven with Bonnie’s journey,.
Bonnie's best memories often circled back to her youth, where her formative years spent on the farm were filled with laughter, lessons, and love. She spent her time caring for the baby animals; without a doubt this was the start of her caregiving heart. Each recollection underscored her commitment to nurturing those around her, making her home a sanctuary of warmth for friends and family alike.
As we reflect on her life, we invite all who knew Bonnie to join us in honoring her through visitation held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville. The visitation will occur on June 25, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and continue on June 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM until noon, concluding in a funeral service at 12:00 PM, also at the same location. After services, she will be laid to rest with family at Highview Cemetery in Chaplain, Kentucky.
Bonnie Carol (Goff) Lawson’s spirit shines brightly in the memories of those she loved.
