Bonnie "B-Lou" Louise Evans, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and the heart of her family, passed away on May 17, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky, where she was born on June 19, 1959. A woman whose life was woven with love, devotion, and a remarkable spirit, Bonnie leaves behind a legacy that will forever inspire those who knew her.
Born and raised in Louisville, Bonnie attended PRP High School, laying the foundation for a life marked by resilience and compassion. For over 30 years, she managed several Mr. Gatti’s locations, demonstrating not only her unwavering work ethic but also her ability to nurture communities and create spaces where people gathered with joy.
Bonnie was the embodiment of a true matriarch. To say she was loving and doting would only scratch the surface of her remarkable character. Though sometimes shy, she was often outspoken with those she held dear, her wit and sarcasm coloring conversations and brightening lives. A good judge of character, Bonnie had the rare gift of always putting others first—whether it was giving sound advice, being a good listener, or simply being there with her quiet support.
She was known as the family planner, the anchor who orchestrated family get-togethers filled with warmth, laughter, and the unmistakable comfort of her cooking. Her love of books, especially the works of Stephen King, revealed a mind curious and hungry for stories that stirred the imagination, reflecting a thoughtful soul who treasured both knowledge and the escape of a good narrative.
Bonnie’s family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Lonnie Evans; her sons Scott and Wayne Evans; her granddaughters Makaela Robertson and Klarissa Halcomb; and her siblings Ernest and Albert Chinn, Julie Miller, and Debbie Chinn. Many nieces and nephews who adored her like a mother also carry her memory in their hearts. She joins in eternal peace her parents, James and Hazel Chinn; her sister Janet Robertson; and her brother Bobby Rouse, whose memories she enshrined in her stories and prayers.
Her passing brings a profound sense of loss to all who knew her, yet her spirit remains a guiding light—full of humor, kindness, and a profound sense of duty to care for others. The warmth she spread will continue to echo in the hearts of her loved ones forever.
Family and friends are invited to honor Bonnie’s life with a visitation on Tuesday, May 26th, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A Celebration of Life will follow on Wednesday, May 27th, at 11:00 AM. This gathering will be a time to share stories, remember her laughter, and hold close the love she so generously gave.
Bonnie "B-Lou" Louise Evans leaves behind more than just memories; she leaves a blueprint for living a life rich with love, resilience, and generosity. Though she has moved beyond this world, her essence flows in the bonds of her family and in the hearts of all touched by her grace. May her soul rest gently, forever enveloped in the love she so freely gave.
