Bob Schaefer, born October 30, 1939, passed away on October 13, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by devotion, laughter, craftsmanship, and care for those around him.
Bob retired from Home Supply Lumber Company, concluding a working life that reflected steadiness and dedication. Beyond his career, he was a man of many interests and enduring enthusiasms. He was an avid bowler who found enjoyment in the sport and in the fellowship that surrounds it. He loved restoring furniture and cars, bringing patience, skill, and pride to each project. He also took on home renovations inspired by his beloved wife, Bobbie, turning her ideas into the work of his hands. In quieter moments, he enjoyed watching sports and cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats, and he was equally fond of Westerns and war movies.
Those who knew Bob will remember not only what he did, but who he was. He was a friend and mentor not only to his children and grandchildren, but also to young neighbors and to people who worked with him. He had an incredible sense of humor, one that brightened conversations and made others feel at ease. His guidance, kindness, and wit formed a lasting part of the lives he touched.
Among the great blessings of his life was his 64-year marriage to his beloved wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Schaefer. Their enduring partnership stood as one of his proudest accomplishments and as a testament to love, loyalty, and shared years.
Bob is survived by his son, Terry Schaefer, and his daughter, Shannon Schaefer. He also leaves his grandsons, Christian (Nicole) Schaefer, Kelly Schaefer, and his great-grandchildren, Elliott Schaefer and Collins Schaefer, whose place in the family brought continuing joy. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Turner as well as a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family and friends to cherish his memory forever. May those who carry his memory forward find comfort in the example he set and in the love he gave so freely.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Schaefer; his father, Christian A. Schaefer; his mother, Gladys Schaefer; his aunt, Hazel Maffet; his brother, Jerry Schaefer; and his sister, Carolyn Hutchison. Their memories remained part of the story of his life, and he is now reunited with those who went before him.
