Robert "Bob" Lawson entered this world on July 30, 1943, with an ornery streak, and on December 8, 2024, he finally decided to stop giving the world a hard time. True to form, he went out stubborn as ever, ensuring the last word was his.
Bob was the real-life Hank Hill, King of Propane and Propane Accessories, spending his entire life in the propane industry. He was never satisfied, and no one could ever quite meet his expectations—not the world, not the people around him, and indeed not the poor girl who made his meals at Dairy Queen or McDonald's. Yet, he channeled that same relentless drive into being a hard worker, stubbornly pushing himself long past when most people would have called it quits—mostly so he could complain about it later.
Bob carried an impeccable record of four marriages and an equal number of divorces—4 for 4—a Hall of Fame-worthy statistic he proudly claimed as proof he never gave up on love, even if love gave up on him. While he often served as a walking guide of "what not to do," his family loved him dearly for no reason other than his ability to make life entertaining and unpredictable. His presence, larger than life and twice as stubborn, will undoubtedly leave an unforgettable mark.
Bob, a dedicated and proud firefighter for over 50 years, served his community with honor and courage. Over the years, he provided protection and care as part of the fire departments in Camp Taylor and Okolona (Louisville, KY), Horry County (South Carolina), and LaGrange (Kentucky), retiring with the rank of Sergeant. His contributions to these communities and the lives he touched will not be forgotten.
In life, Bob always joked that he wanted to be buried belly down so the world could kiss his a** one more time. In truth, he wanted to leave this world with no fanfare, and his wishes will be honored. He will be cremated. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
Bob's legacy is carried on by those who knew him best and loved him anyway, proving that even the most stubborn among us leave an irreplaceable mark. His memory will forever be a source of laughter, lessons, and the occasional eye roll—a testament to a life lived unapologetically on his own terms.
