Robert "Bob" Edwin Gannon, 72, also known as Bobby and Coach Bob, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Bob was a loving and devoted husband, brother, father, Papa, and friend. He dedicated several years to coaching Special Olympics and enriching the lives of the athletes he cared for. Bob retired from Jefferson County Public Schools as a plant Operator. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and amazing sense of humor. Most importantly, Bob cherished his family and the everlasting memories made with them. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He was born on June 11, 1953 in Cloverport, Kentucky to Wallace and Nancy Lindsay. He is preceded in death by his adoptive father, John Thomas Gannon; adoptive mother, Julia Ann Gannon; biological father, Wallace Lindsay; biological mother, Nancy Lindsay; and brothers, Louie Lindsay and Davis Lindsay.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Mary Anne Gannon; twin sister, Roberta Lindsay; brothers, Steve (Mimi) Becker, John Tally; children, Michael (Brianna) Gannon, Jeffrey (Heather) Gannon, Michele (Jay) Harvey, William "Buddy" Crawford, David Cannon; grandchildren, Casia Gannon, Dakota Gannon, Thea Cannon, Miles Cannon, Amaya Gannon, Jasmine Harvey, Matthew Harvey, Kyle Gannon, Jeffrey "Bubby" Gannon, Jr., Desirae Harvey, Wyatt Gannon, Riley Gannon, Dystanie Gannon, Zander McGinnis; great-grandson, Davonne Ferguson; faithful four legged granddog, Maggie; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 11;00 a.m. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
