Billy E. Williams age 89, of Louisville, Kentucky, gained his Wings and passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. Billy was born on March 4, 1935 to Emmit Williams and Mary E. Shively Williams White. He is survived by his beloved and cherished wife, Diane L. Williams. Billy had six children, Billy Williams Jr. (Beverly), James Mitchell (Danita), Thomas Williams (Deborah), Anthony Williams (preceded in death), Ricky Williams, Tabitha Southard (Fred), and Cynthia Polk (Lenny). Billy is survived by four siblings, James Williams of Louisville, Kentucky, Carol Hickman of Louisville, Kentucky, Emet Wright-Lawson (Earl) of Louisville, Kentucky, and Deborah Cannon (Leonard) of Indianapolis, Indiana. Billy was preceded in death by his brothers Eugene Williams, James Shively, and sister-in-law, Lelia Williams. He was blessed to have thirteen grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, family, and friends.
Billy has been a dedicated member of West Chestnut Street Baptist Church for over 70 years. After being employed at the Louisville Water Company for 35 years, he retired in 1993. In 1995, Billy opened and operated his own business, Billy's Place Lounge and Supper Club. Billy was a member of Bluegrass Elks Lodge #292, Screaming Eagles Motorcycle Club, and Billy's Angels and Devils Social Club. Up until the end, Billy maintained his kindness, grace, compassion, and appreciation of life, love of family and friends, and an expressed gratitude of 89 years of life that was full of wonderful and varied experiences. Billy was an outgoing person who enjoyed spending time with his family, dancing, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, playing spades, traveling, and eating his cakes and ice cream, but more importantly spending quality time with his beloved wife, Diane.
Billy's life can be best encapsulated by four "F" words: Family, Friends, Food and Fun. Billy's friendships encompassed all aspects of his life, and each friendship was special to him. Billy will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. Billy's spirt will live on in the memories and hearts forever of his beloved wife, children, family, and friends.
Visitation for Billy will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at West Chestnut Street Baptist Church (1725 W Chestnut St, Louisville, KY 40203). A celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 (1725 W Chestnut St, Louisville, KY 40203) with his Brother-In-Law, Rev. Stevie Jones, officiating.
