Billy Edward Stivers, Sr.

Billy Edward Stivers, Sr., 63, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018. He served as the Directing Business Representative for District Lodge 27 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Billy began his 43-year Union career employed at C. Lee Cook and Cook Airtomic in Local Lodge 681 and over the years has served as Committeeman, Shop Steward, Delegate to the Greater Central Labor Council, Organizer, and Business Representative. He was an avid fan of the Louisville Cardinals and horseracing and enjoyed both classic cars and old country music. Billy was a devoted husband and father and loved his grandchildren.

He was born on June 23, 1954, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Jasper and Irene (Dilley) Stivers. Billy was also preceded in death by his brothers, Gilbert and Richard Stivers.

Billy is survived by his wife, Dana (Luker) Stivers; sons, Billy Stivers, Jr. (James), and Jason Stivers (Tori); stepson, Robert Reich (Akiko); siblings, Dee Jones (Rita), Beverly Thompson, and Judy Weber (Mark); as well as several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Cremation was chosen following Billy's wishes. A reception of family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his Memorial Service taking place at 3:00 p.m.
