Billy G. Morgan was born in Kankakee, Illinois to loving parents Corrine Morgan and Ivan Graves where he grew up surrounded by family and community that helped shape his strong values. He attended public schools in Kankakee and proudly served 13 years in the United States Army, demonstrating dedication and commitment to his country.
After his military service, Billy married Vivian Smith, and together they made a wonderful life in Louisville, Kentucky. Billy’s hardworking spirit took him through a variety of roles—from truck and bus driver to moving furniture and handyman. He retired as a truck driver for Conoco and later became the proud co-owner of Smokies' Barbecue, where his delicious rib tips quickly became a local favorite and brought people together in joy and celebration.
Known affectionately as Grandpa, Paw-Paw, Uncle Billy, and Daddy, Billy was a force to be reckoned with (smile) in the lives of his family and friends. While he maintained high standards as a strict disciplinarian, his encouragement and love shone when it mattered to most. He was a constant supporter at family events, lifting the spirits( some would say vexing- smile) of his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with his strong presence and colorful words.
