Billy Steven Cary

November 5, 1947 — June 2, 2021

Billy Steven Cary "Soldier", 73, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.As a young child Billy was very athletic and a tenacious baseball player. At just 19 years of age Billy entered the Army where he bravely fought for his country as a highly skilled and decorated infantryman in the Vietnam War earning him the nickname "Soldier" and many distinguished honors including the Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Marksman and Sharp Shooter. He thrived in the military and embodied the 7 core values of a Soldier - Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Personal Courage, Honor, Integrity and Selfless Service. Though re-entering civilian life was sometimes challenging he was most proud to have served his country as an "Elite" Soldier.
After his service in the Army he joined his family here in Louisville, Kentucky where he worked in many industry related occupations including Reynolds Aluminum.
Billy really enjoyed spending time with his family and was often the life of the party. He loved watching sports especially UofL Basketball and had an affinity for martial arts movies. He never met a stranger and was loved by all that he encountered especially his friends "around the way" on 38th and Broadway.
Though he's gone on to glory he will forever be loved and missed and always remembered as our "Soldier". May you rest in God's perfect peace!

He was born on November 5, 1947 in Burkesville, Kentucky to Robert and Laura (Parmley) Cary. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Kyle Cary and mother, Laura Bell Cary; siblings, Levy Douglas Cary, Deborah Cary, Cynthia Cary, James Cary, Maurice Cary, and Vickie Wilburn.
