Billie J. Thomas, 70, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on October 1, 2026, in Louisville. She was born on July 10, 1956, in Harlan, Kentucky.

Billie will be remembered as a loving and caring mother to her family and friends. Her life was marked by devotion to the people she loved, and she carried herself with warmth and generosity that touched many around her. She was deeply religious and loved to sew, finding meaning in her faith and comfort in the quiet creativity that brought joy to her days.

She graduated from Ahrens High School in 1974 and later continued her education at the Kentucky College of Business, graduating in 1995. In her professional life, Billie worked as an accountant at Brightsprings Health, formerly known as ResCare, where she gave her time and dedication to her work.

Above all, Billie treasured her family. She is survived by her son, John Courtney, and her daughter, Magen Meyer. She also leaves behind her grandsons, Dakota Courtney (Dayla), Dylan Courtney, and Jaden Courtney, who were an important part of her life and brought her great pride. Billie is also survived by her brothers, James Blackwell, Ray Thomas, and Ralph Cloud; her sister, Lisa Barger (Kenny); her best friend, Wanda Rahlmann, whose friendship was a cherished part of her life; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Courtney; her sister, Janice Hayes; her father, Johnny Thomas; her mother, Nellie Blackwell; her step-father, Park Blackwell; her step-mother, Pheby Thomas; and her beloved dog, Tinkerbell.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A funeral service will be held there on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Billie will be remembered with love by all who knew her. Her faith, kindness, and devotion to her family will remain a lasting blessing in the lives she touched.
