Beverly Jean Winders

June 13, 1942 — March 23, 2022

Beverly Jean (Haas) Winders, 79, of Louisville, KY passed away on March 23, 2022, at Norton Audubon Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 13, 1942, in Dubuque, Iowa to Lorraine (Tinkham) Haas and William Haas. She attended Dubuque Senior High School, serving as the class treasurer during her senior year and graduated in 1960. She married her high school sweetheart Terry Winders on September 12, 1964, for 57 years. Shortly after being married, Terry and Beverly moved to the San Jose, California area where they lived for 10 years before moving to Louisville, Kentucky where she spent the remainder of her life.

She is survived by her husband, Terry, daughters Sara (Phil) McWhirter and Kelly (Luis) Flores, daughter-in-law Heather Winders, four grandchildren whom she dearly loved: Alton & Avie McWhirter, Emiliano & Antonio Flores, and step-grandchildren Bella and Hope. She was preceded in death by her son Jason Winders, and her parents William and Lorraine Haas. She has two surviving siblings, Jim (Lisa) Haas and Carole (Jack) Heiderscheit, in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

She worked for many large firms over the years including John Deere, GE Nuclear Energy Division, IBM, and finally Brown Forman, where she spent thirty years in their Benefits Department. She spent many years completing her bachelor's degree in business administration at the University of Louisville (1997).

Beverly was loved by so many. She had such a vibrant, sweet, giving, and welcoming personality. She was very outgoing and social and loved to have fun spending time with friends and family. She especially loved hosting social gatherings, drinking wine with her friends and playing euchre with family. She was a lover of animals and loved her golden retrievers Jazzie and Lilly.

She had an adventurous spirit and she so passionately loved to travel and experience new things. In her lifetime she was able to see much of the U.S., but really enjoyed Hawaii, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and New Orleans. She was fortunate to travel abroad to Europe, the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico. She made the most of her trips by burning the candle at both ends by packing in adventures every available minute.

Bev was a tremendously giving person. Shopping was one of her favorite activities and she enjoyed adding to her many collections. She found enjoyment from giving gifts and finding collectibles for other's collections. In her retirement she especially loved being a grandmother and doting on her four grandchildren who were the light of her life. They were the most recent recipients of her giving nature. She will truly be missed!
