Beverly Sue Barlow

Beverly S. Barlow was born on November 12, 1961, to Eugene and Sue Barlow in Glasgow, Kentucky. Beverly, affectionately known as “Bev,” was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Bev attended Noe Middle School, where she excelled academically and was an enthusiastic cheerleader. She later attended Iroquois High School, where she was an accomplished student, a member of Future Business Leaders of America, and among the school’s first African American cheerleaders. After graduating from high school, Bev attended Western Kentucky University.

After returning home to Louisville, Bev began her professional career as a receptionist and executive assistant at the Morgan & Pottinger Law Firm. She was part of the Morgan & Pottinger family for more than 17 years before moving on to Humana, where she worked in various roles for over 15 years. Bev loved her coworkers at Humana as family and often spoke of their kindness, support, and generosity.

Bev loved and trusted the Lord. She gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Greater Saint Mark Church, where she was a faithful and devoted member. For many years, she assisted the church trustees with accounting and collections processing.

In her leisure time, Bev enjoyed shopping and cooking delicious meals with her mother, watching the latest movies, talking with her father daily by phone, listening to 1960s R&B music, and—most of all—spending time in Maryland with her brother, sister-in-law, and nephew.

Bev leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Sue; devoted father, Eugene; cherished brother, Eugene; sister-in-law, Trina; nephew, Hunter; her aunt and uncle—and spiritual rocks—Brenda and Gilbert Mills; aunt Nellie Taylor; uncle Richard and aunt Sharon Wilson; niece Brittany Kongkran; and a host of other supportive uncles, aunts, family members, and friends who loved her unconditionally.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Beverly S. Barlow will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 12:00 noon at Greater St. Mark Church, 1425 Bland Street, Louisville, Kentucky.
