Betty Jean Wegenast, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020. Betty was a loving and caring Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She loved spending time with family, camping, family gatherings, and a dedicated lover of animals. Betty was a 1953 Ursuline Academy Graduate, and retired from Humana after 20 years of service. She was a member of St Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Betty was born on November 5, 1935 in Louisville, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her, Husband, James Donald Wegenast, Mother, Mary (Washer) White, Friend, Jimmy Burns, Uncle, Carroll Washer, Grandchild Lauren Mann, and Great-Grandchildren, Dakota Alford, and Vivian Gasser.
Betty is survived by her, Son, Gregory (Libby) Wegenast, Daughter, Teri (Ronnie) Ashley, Son, Gary (Susan) Wegenast, Daughter, Karen (Thomas) Mann, Son, Scott (Jill) Wegenast, Son, Michael (Julie) Wegenast, Son, Todd (Whitney) Wegenast, Son, Dennis (Deana) Wegenast, Grandchildren, Matthew (Abigail) Wegenast, Jennifer (Dan) Hewitt, Ronnie Ashley, Keri (Jessie) Alford, Arin Ashley (Mario Picciuto), Benjamin Ashley, Vestine Muhoza, Josiah (Sarah) Wegenast, Brittany (Bobby) Howell, Rachel (Bo) Henry, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Gasser, Thomas Mann, Joseph Mann, Layne Wegenast, Sophie Wegenast, Riley Wegenast, Katie Wegenast, Molly Wegenast, Emma Wegenast, Carlye Wegenast, Delaney Wegenast, Cole Wegenast, Zachary Wegenast, Evan Wegenast, and Maddie Wegenast, Great-Grandchildren, Celestine & Corabel Hewitt, Maddie, Graceyn, and Eli Alford, Dominic Picciuto, Jaren, Kylee, and Forrest Wegenast, Kylar and Kane Henry, Johanna & Florence Gasser, Aubree Kinsey and Cameron Cross. Betty also leaves behind to cherish her memory a host of Friends and Extended Family.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Newcomer, Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions-Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway). A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, at St Peter the Apostle Catholic Church (5431 Johnsontown Rd, Louisville) with burial to follow at St. Andrew Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
The family requests that contributions in Betty's memory be made to Kentucky Humane Society and Alley Cat Advocates.
