Betty Snider

February 23, 1947 — November 2, 2024

La Grange, Kentucky

Betty Snider, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on November 2, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on February 23, 1947, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Blanche (Nation) Wayne. Betty graduated from Shelby County High School in 1965 and carried her love for cooking throughout her life.

Betty dedicated her career to the culinary arts, working as a cook at various establishments, including The Department of Juvenile Justice, Central State Hospital, several country clubs, and numerous restaurants. Her passion for food was matched only by her love for her family, often delighting them with her home-cooked meals. Betty's friendly and warm personality made her a treasured figure in her community; she was always happy and welcoming, never meeting a stranger. A talented storyteller, she shared her life’s tales with joy and enthusiasm.

Her family fondly remembers her sense of humor, especially the moments when her daughter Chastity would prank and scare her, bringing both joy and laughter into their home. Betty is survived by her loving children, Shannon D. Snider (Karen) Carla Caswell (James) and Chastity Hope Snider (Patrick). She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, Zachary and Logan Snider, and Shawn Caswell, and she took immense pride in her two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Phoenyx. She also shared a strong bond with her surviving brother, Glenn Wayne (Teresa), her beloved fur baby, Freya, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends

Preceding her in death were her siblings, Jo Ann, Shirley, Carl, Ruth, Larry, and her grandparents, Ollie and Christine Nation.

Betty was not only a passionate cook but also an avid sports fan. She proudly supported the University of Kentucky basketball team and was the biggest admirer of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Billy Ray Cyrus. In her leisure time, she enjoyed listening to Journey, quilting, and transforming t-shirts into lovely blankets, a testament to her creative spirit.
