Betty Lou Pierson

Betty Lou Pierson, born on December 28, 1947, in Corydon, Indiana, took her final peaceful breath on July 30, 2026, in New Salisbury, Indiana. She left this world surrounded by the boundless warmth and love of her family, a fitting tribute to a life built around nurturing those she held closest to her heart.

From her earliest days, Betty embraced life with a spirit marked by warmth, loyalty, and determined intelligence. She was the treasured daughter of Mildred Ann Bottles and Alfred Bottles, both of whom preceded her in death, as did her beloved sister Rita Sturgill. Their memories lived brightly within her, just as she now lives in the cherished recollections of her own growing family.

Betty's journey of learning and achievement began at New Albany High School, where she graduated proudly before going on to attain her associate’s degree from Ball State University. Her education opened doors to a lengthy and fulfilling career; she dedicated numerous years serving as an Administrative Coordinator in the healthcare system. Through her service she offered not only her skill and reliability, but also the compassion and honesty that so many came to admire.

Above all else, Betty Lou Pierson’s greatest joy was found in her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her devotion to her family was boundless, and it shines through those who survive her: her beloved husband, David Pierson; her children, James "Robbie" Brown (Linda), Robin M. Brown, John Christopher Brown (Sandra), Wendy Pierson, and David Pierson, Jr.; her adored grandchildren Desaree Murphy (Andy), Jessica Ford, Cody McMillin (Danielle), and Chloe Klusmeier (Jonah); and her siblings, Lonnie Bottles (Debbie), Debbie Kalbfliesch, and Theresa Paris. Though her family is touched by grief at her passing, they are uplifted by the years of her unwavering love and steadiness.

Betty was never happier than when surrounded by her family, whether camping under starry skies, planning joyful gatherings, or simply watching her grandson play baseball—a pastime she relished with genuine excitement. The laughter from shared games, the comfort offered by her beloved dogs, and the gentle peace she found while visiting the shore were testament to a life joyfully lived.

Among Betty’s proudest accomplishments was watching her family grow and thrive. She marvelled at each new generation, celebrating every milestone and accomplishment. Her generosity of spirit extended well beyond her immediate family. As a friend, she was compassionate and honest; as a matriarch, she was the steadfast center of her family’s gravity.

Her memory is graced by her love of simple pleasures and unforgettable gatherings. The echo of her laughter, the warmth of her embrace, and the wisdom of her counsel will continue to be felt in every corner of her family’s lives.

Friends and loved ones are invited to gather in honor of Betty Lou Pierson’s remarkable life. Details of services will be shared by her family to ensure all who held her dear have the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a woman whose kindness, resilience, and grace enriched everyone around her.

Though the world is quieter without her, Betty’s legacy lives on—within her family, her friends, and the grateful hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A private family gathering will be held in her honor, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, Southern Indiana Chapel. 

The family requests donations in her honor be made to the Corydon Central Baseball Team.
