Betty Jean (Kruer) Koetter, 87, of Starlight, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019. She was a strong and independent woman that instilled in her children the importance of hard work, but also having fun. Betty was the valedictorian of her 8th grade class and a former Strawberry Festival Queen and enjoyed every year seeing the fruits from her labor at harvest time.
She was born on December 7, 1931, in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, to the late Joseph and Eleanor (Roberts) Kruer. Betty was also preceded in death by William Koetter; her children, David Koetter and Marilyn Tolle; and siblings, Jane, William, Wilfred, Bob, and Ronnie Kruer.
Betty is survived by her children, Darlene Kuzmic (Mike), Regis Koetter (Debbie), Raymond Koetter (Peggy), Mark Koetter, and Susan Fields (George); brothers, Jerry Kruer (Brenda) and Roy Kruer (Cathleen); sisters-in-law, Sylvia and Judy Kruer; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (8310 St. John's Road, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
