Betty J. James

Betty J. James, 81, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed peacefully from this life the afternoon of Monday, March 4, 2019. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last months of her life.

Betty was born on January 16, 1938, to the late Floyd and Bernice (Rankin) James. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her oldest son, Darrell James; and sister, Nola Allen. She was a faithful member of New Progressive Baptist Church. She retired from Louisville Bedding Co. where she worked alongside her sisters, Hildra and Jessica.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Yolanda (Keith) Woodley, Craig (Katina) James, Dale (Dianne) James, Rochelle (Kenneth) Brown, Lisa (Tim) Proctor, Terry James, and Barry James; siblings, Floyd James, William James, Brenda (William) Shrewsberry, Victoria James, Frank (Jerri) James, Robert (Scharlene) James, Hildra Cochran, Richard (Helen) James, and Jessica Woodson; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at New Progressive Baptist Church (4712 Middle Road, Jeffersonville, IN). Her Funeral Service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church with burial to follow at Eastern Cemetery in Jeffersonville.

The family requests that contributions in Betty's memory be made to the American Heart Association.
