Betty Jean Abbott

Betty Jean Abbott, born May 24, 1957, passed away on September 23, 2026.

Betty will be remembered as a charismatic and charming woman who could always put a smile on your face. She brought warmth and joy to those around her, and her presence made ordinary moments brighter. Among the things she treasured most in life were her family and her grandchildren, who stood as her proudest accomplishment and greatest source of happiness.

She found delight in life’s simple pleasures. Betty loved finding a good deal and going to yard sales, turning everyday outings into small adventures. She enjoyed cooking and was especially known for making the best brownies. She was also a huge animal lover who believed deeply in rescuing dogs, reflecting the compassion that was such a natural part of who she was. In quieter moments, Betty loved watching Hallmark movies, especially during the holidays, embracing the comfort and joy of the season.

Betty’s life was marked by the love she gave so freely and the happiness she created for others. She leaves behind memories of laughter, kindness, and the special way she made people feel welcome and loved.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, Richard Abbott; son, Shawn Love; mother, Violet Dumontear and fur babies, Bella and Mousey.

Betty leaves behind to cherish her memories are her children, Crystal Love, Tabitha Love, Matthew Vernoy, Summer Vernoy and Wesley Vernoy; grandchildren, Kirsten, Malakai, Ariel, Mariah, Noah, Peyton, Samantha, Shawn, Jr., Mason, Olivia, Amelia, Waylon, Wyatt, Cajabriel, Cody and Cayden; great-granddaughter, Hadley and one on the way; siblings, Edie Love and Grant, fur babies, Molly, Zoe, Alley and Foxy

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
