Dickey, Bertha Lavan, 67, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on May 13, 2016.

Bertha was born on September 17, 1948, in Louisville, KY to the late Thomas William Sr., and Pearl Lee Smith. She was also preceded in death by her son, Darrell Dickey; siblings, James Knox, Louise Jarman, Charles Kennedy, Lula Mae Clendening, and Thomas Smith Jr.

Bertha married Lawrence Anderson Dickey, Sr. on June 22, 1963, whereas they had seven children.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Dickey, Sr.; children, Dadrea Clayton (Tony), Roberta Rogers (Mark Sr.), Elsie Strong, Lawrence Dickey, Jr., Dennis Dickey (Renee) and John Dickey; two brothers, Johnny Tapscott, Richard Smith, Sr. and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, whom she adored.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016 at North Central Church of Christ (101 North 35th Street, Louisville, KY 40212).
Her Funeral Ceremony will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at North Central Church of Christ, with burial to follow at Green Meadows Cemetery.

Bertha will always be remembered by family and friends for her, smile, cooking and loving kindness shown towards others. She never met a stranger. Bertha Lavan will be missed by many.
