Bernie Dewitt "Dee" Oliver, age 71, passed away December 24, 2014 after a long illness. Bernie's final wish was that you "Remember me and smile." Bernie attended Middletown Christian Church. He was a graduate of Eastern High School (class of 1961) and Centre College. Bernie was a retired paint chemist and worked in the wood coatings industry for over 40 years (Reliance Universal, Valspar and Akzo Nobel) and was widely known for his expertise. Bernie was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary, and his father, Bernie T. Oliver.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 25 years, Kay; mother, Margaret Oliver; son, Clayton (Camille) Oliver; sister, Bonnye (Ahmad) Shatila; step daughter, Wendy (Jason) Skaggs; stepson, Jeremy VonDeylen; grandchildren, Justin, Ryan and Caroline Skaggs and Madison and Savanna VonDeylen; an uncle, aunts, brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be at Newcomer Funeral Home, Juneau Dr., Louisville Sunday, December 28 from 1-3 p.m. with a Celebration of Life at 3 p.m.
