Bernice H. Hill, a dedicated and compassionate woman, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, in Sellersburg, Indiana, at the age of 76. Born on August 20, 1948, in La Junta Colorado, Bernice led a life rich in service, family, and love.

For over three decades, Bernice contributed to the United States Air Force as a civilian, where she began her career in housekeeping. Through hard work and determination, she rose through the ranks to become the head of housekeeping. Bernice took immense pride in her role, dedicating herself to caring for the soldiers who sacrificed so much for their country. Her commitment extended beyond her job; she actively volunteered and participated in fundraising efforts for the services squadron, reflecting her unwavering support for those in uniform.

In addition to her professional achievements, Bernice was a spirited individual with various interests. She loved traveling, held a special fondness for Colorado, and was a supporter of Girl Scouts, often helping with trips and fundraisers. Most importantly, Bernice cherished the time spent with her family, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter.

Bernice's compassion and desire to help others were clear throughout her life. One of her proudest moments came in 1962 when she had the opportunity to volunteer to cook meals for the legendary actor John Wayne, an experience that exemplified her giving spirit.

She is survived by her devoted husband, David Hill; her daughters, Bessie (Michael) Anderson, Vanessa Hill, Lisi (John) Blake; her son, Henry Hill; her stepdaughter, Michelle (Tony) Williams; and her stepson, Andy Hill. Bernice's legacy also lives on through her 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her warmth and kindness in their hearts.

Her siblings, Mary, Gabe, Virginia, Jimmy, and Georgia along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, will remember her fondly and hold her memory close.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, Nasario and Bessie Guerrero, and her sister, Jenny Guerrero. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her spirit will remain in the hearts of those she touched throughout her remarkable life.

The family of Bernice Hill would like to give a special thanks to Belleville Memorial Hospital, Baptist Health Floyd, and Sellersburg Health Care Center for the exceptional care that was given to Bernice and her family.
