Bernice Glenn entered this life December 07, 1958, in Ramer, Alabama to the late James Calhoun and to the late Voncile Hooten. She entered her final rest Monday June 9, 2025. Bernice was the Matriarch of her family, the devoted wife, the mother, the grandmother, the sister, the auntie, the cousin, and the friend. The various names she had grown to love and would answer to: Honey Boo, Mom, Momma, Momma Daddy Momma Daddy, Bug, Bernie Mae, Bernie. All of which were names of endearment: Bernice Glenn.
Bernice was known to welcome you in her house. She loved to be around people. She loved family time and loved to cook. Her main hobbies were playing cards every Friday night and BINGO. If you knew, you knew. I got pair…. BINGO!
Bernice proceeded in heaven by her father, James Calhoun; mother, Voncile Hooten; aunt, Mary Herron; uncle, Bill Herron; brother, James Calhoun-Boykins Jr,; daughter, Malisa Taylor; grandson, Alston Walters and granddaughter, Sarai Johnson; niece, Zuleika Dunning; nephews, Robert Woods Jr & Antwon Thornton; Sister-In-Law's, Brenda Glenn & Varia Faye Smith; Brother-In-Laws, Robert Woods Sr, James Glenn & Maurice Smith.
Bernice leaves to cherish her memories with her Devoted & Loving husband Nelson Glenn; 3 loving children Tyrone Glenn (wife Rachele), Schirika Glenn and Ka’Taisha Glenn (LaWann), 6 sisters: Francine Woods, Maxine Garcia (Frank), Alma Jean Dunning & Shalonda Hooten, Mary Simmons (Ray Charles) Lena Calhoun, 3 brothers: Ray Charles Gibson, Larry Cogburn (Gloria), Anthony (Pancake) Cogburn, Sister-In-Laws: Gloria Glenn, Sarah Clayton, Elaine Glenn, Sheila Glenn (Greg), Brother-In-Law: Anthony Glenn (Michelle); 14 grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins, beloved relatives, and dear friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 10am-12pm with a celebration of Bernice's life beginning at 12pm.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the CCU staff at St Mary Elizabeth UofL Hospital, as well as a special thanks to her nurses Trevor, Carri, Yama & Shelby for their wonderful care they provided for Mrs. Glenn.
