Bernard Eugene McGuirk, 73, of Greenville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015. Bernie served in the Indiana National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserves. He had a 43-year career as a transportation and logistics manager. A devout Catholic, he was a past Grand Knight and Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1221 and St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
He was born on November 9, 1941 in Greenville to the late Vivian and Norma (Mullins) McGuirk. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William, Charles, and Paul McGuirk.
Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty (Hoehler) McGuirk; children, Shannon Fritch (John), Jennifer Kos (Wally), Michael McGuirk (Micalyn Schindler); siblings, Mary Lu Dietrich (Don), James McGuirk, Rita Rasmussen (David); grandchildren, Charlie, Catherine, Ela Kos, Elizabeth Fritch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church (7500 Navilleton Road, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119) with burial to follow at St. Michaels' Catholic Church Cemetery in Bradford, Indiana.
