Bernadette Claire (Wilson) Allen

Bernadette Claire (Wilson) Allen of Jeffersonville, Indiana, departed this earthly life on August 21, 2018. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Jeffersonville, the order of the Eastern Star, the NAACP, the Nubian Queen Red Hat Club, and the Wesley Super Seniors. Bernadette was employed 46 years for the Family and Social Services Administration, based in Clark County, for the State of Indiana. She served as a Quality Control Supervisor. She also served as the owner and operator of Claire's Catering and Crafts.

Bernadette was born on February 2, 1949, in St. Augustine, Florida, to the late Frank Wilson and Bette (Granger) Strickland. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Leonard Allen, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Sherard Allen (Erica) and Shivaun Allen; granddaughters, Sa'Niya and Sa'Raya Overton; siblings, Sharyn Coley and Marsha Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Wesley UMC (1201 Thomas V. Bryant Drive, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130) with her Funeral Service taking place at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow according to Bernadette's wishes.

Memorial Expressions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to her church.
