Berdean "Dean" Mahoney

Berdean "Dean" Mahoney, passed away on March 11, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on November 10, 1938, in Anderson, Indiana to the late Perry Mahoney and Fannie Smith Mahoney.

Dean was not only lover of family but also had a passion for various hobbies that brought joy. His enthusiasm for sports was evident, as he enjoyed playing softball and bowling, and he always looked forward to watching football games, where he could cheer for his favorite teams.

As the self-proclaimed "Indiana Wannabe Cowboy," Dean had a profound love for westerns and all things cowboy. This nickname reflected his unique character and added to charm that endeared him to everyone who knew him.

Dean leaves his loving wife of 69 years, Linda Mahoney, who stood by his side through every endeavor. He is also survived by his children, Michael Mahoney, Jimmie Mahoney, Kenneth (Kathy) Mahoney, and Alan (Ginny) Mahoney; his brother, Larry Mahoney; 9 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; as well as 4 great-great-grandchildren, who all held special place in his heart.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter in-law, Penney Mahoney and sister in-law, B.B. Mahoney.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Alpha & Omega Full Gospel Church (6875 Corydon Junction Road NE, New Salisbury, IN) with his funeral immediately following at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 19, at Grant Memorial Park in Marion, Indiana.
