Benjamin F. Van Osdol

Benjamin F. Van Osdol, 88, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018. He was born on June 19, 1929, in Anderson, Indiana. Ben was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Korean War. He went on to graduate from the University of Louisville with a Master's Degree in Chemistry. Ben worked for over 40 years at the U of L Medical Center in the Department of Biochemistry. He often shared his love of the swamps of the Okefenokee, the clear waters of the gulf coast, and the blooming desert of Big Bend, Texas. Ben was an avid kayaker and had a passion for reading from the many books on his overflowing bookshelves.

Ben is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Sandra (Wiggins) Van Osdol; son, Alex Van Osdol (Karen); and grandson, Christopher. He is preceded in death by his parents and his 5 siblings.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). Cremation was chosen following Ben's wishes.
