Beldon Asher, Jr., of New Salisbury, Indiana, passed away on September 4, 2026, at the age of 96.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Following his time in the service, Junior started a 35 year career at L&N Railroad, where he worked as a Yard Foreman/Switchman. Upon retirement, Junior dedicated his time to Asher Milk Hauling, where he also served as President.
Outside of work, Junior was an avid gardener and fisherman. He also enjoyed riding ATV's, especially in Eastern Kentucky, and was a dedicated fan of the Kentucky Wildcats. Junior was a member of the National Rifle Association and New Salisbury Christian's Missionary Church.
Born on March 20, 1930, he was the son of Beldon Asher, Sr. and Maultie (Langdon) Asher. Along with his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his grandson, Jeremy Asher; his granddaughter, Sandra Turpin; his brothers, Raymond, Wesley, and Waldo; and his sisters, Helen, Callie, Marion, Norma, Lois, and Etta.
Junior is survived by his wife of over 74 years, Helen (Cable) Asher; children, James Creech, Dianna McDaniel (Elisha), Timothy Asher (Vicki), Toni Benz (Scott), Sarah Turpin (Keith), Taffy Asher (Patrick Moore), Tracy Asher (Robin), Toby Asher (Anita); grandchildren, Michelle, Jessica, Tyler, Joel, Kristan, Beth, Megan, Travis, Erin, Jeremy, Sarah, Jodi, Kimberly, Justin; great-grandchildren, Mason, Miles, Ace, Brenna, Rhett, Hannah, Abigail, Addie, Emma, Tyler, Avery, Gabrielle, Levi, Elisha, Alexis, Ashtynn, Jordan, Justine, Riley, Hollyn; great-great-granddaughter, Amelia; sister, Cathy Asher-Staley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at New Salisbury Christian's Missionary Church (1855 Hwy 64, New Salisbury, IN 47161) and continue on Thursday morning after 9:00 a.m. Junior's funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church, with burial and military honors to follow at Central Barren Cemetery.
