Listen to Obituary

Barbara W. Franck passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025. She was born in 1935 and grew up in Jeffersontown, Kentucky. From there, she attended Gulf Park Junior College for two years, enjoyed various sporting and literary activities, then finished her remaining years in Kentucky, graduating from the University of Louisville.

Right after college Barbara taught elementary school, and in her later years worked in bookkeeping, retail clothing sales, and real estate before she retired. She loved and found strength in Christ the Lord, and will be remembered for her caring nature, reserved guidance, gentle & thoughtful insights, and dedication to her family. In addition to her love for her grandchildren and spending time with them, she enjoyed golf, tennis, music, the outdoors, and preparing ever-delicious meals—many a serving from her own mother’s recipes.

Barbara is survived by her children Cathy, John (Dana) and Doug (Lara), five grandchildren, and two younger siblings. She is preceded in death by Charles – her loving husband of 67 years, a son-in-law, and an older sister. Barbara’s friendship was considered a rare and true blessing to many and she will be greatly missed. The family is grateful for the kindness and support provided by family, friends and others in her journey as of recent years.

Visitation will be held at Chapel in the Woods (1407 Moser Road, Louisville, KY 40299) on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am with a service to follow.  Burial will be private.
