Barbara Tiebens

Barbara Lynn Tiebens, 72, of Louisville, passed on April 2nd after complications from surgery. Barbara was born on November 24, 1952 to Robert and Mary Laverne Tiebens in Louisville.

She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1970 and continued her education at the University of Kentucky. After college, she worked for American Airlines as a flight attendant for over thirty years. She spent most of her adult life in Texas, most recently in the Dallas area. During this time she fulfilled her life- long passion of traveling the world. She was fortunate to visit almost every continent, with Paris being her favorite city of all. She shared her love of travel with her parents, taking them on many unforgettable trips in their later years. After her retirement, she moved back to Louisville, near family and friends. Known for her warmth, kindness and lively conversation, Barbara had a gift for making friends wherever she went. She loved animals, especially her beloved pup, Dallas.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Mary Laverne Tiebens, brother-in-law, Ron Reigel, sister-in-law, Emma Tiebens and nephew, Garrett Tiebens. She is survived by her siblings, Sandy Reigel, Patti Noe (Lenny), Kathy Schweitzer (Kevin), Bob Tiebens (Teresa Gill), Gary Tiebens, 7 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Barbara’s wishes, cremation was chosen. A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. Memorial donations may be made in honor of Barb to the Kentucky Humane Society.

The family would to thank Dr. Kathy Thomas and the nursing staff at Norton’s Women and Children’s Hospital for their compassionate care for Barb during her final days.

Barb’s love for adventure and her zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
