Barbara Sue Wright, née Prather, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026. Born on May 3, 1940, in New Haven, Kentucky, Barbara lived a life marked by warmth, kindness, and an enduring spirit that touched all who knew her.
Barbara was a beloved wife to Victor Wright, who stood by her side through the years with unwavering love and devotion. She was the cherished mother of Patti Loeffler, whose life she enriched beyond measure. Barbara's family roots ran deep, and her connections with siblings were a testament to her nurturing nature. She was sister to James "Robert" Prather, Dora Greer, and Julie (Denny) Hall. Together, they shared a bond shaped by shared memories and enduring affection.
The legacy of Barbara's family extended to a rich circle of nephews and nieces, including Karen Craigmyle, Timmy Prather, Jennifer Peckham, Chad Prather, Leah Smith, Whitney Sanders, and Brad Hall. Among them, Kenna Rose, her great-niece, and a host of other great nieces and nephews were touched by Barbara's generous spirit and loving guidance.
Barbara was born to Dorothy and James Prather, whose memories she carried in her heart all her life. She was also predeceased by her brother, Leslie Wayne Prather, whose presence is deeply missed by the family.
A time to honor and remember Barbara Sue Wright will be held with a visitation on May 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243. Following the visitation, the graveside service will commence at 12:30 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery, North Main Street, New Haven, KY 40015 allowing family and friends a moment of reflection and farewell.
Barbara's life was one of quiet strength, boundless love, and faith in the power of family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her and in the stories that will be shared for generations. She will be remembered with respect and affection by all who had the privilege to know her.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made out to Gilda's Club Kentuckiana.
