Barbara Jean Rountree, born on April 30, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Barbara passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.
A proud graduate of University of Kentucky Nursing program Barbara dedicated her career to the profession she loved as a nurse, culminating in her role at Jewish Hospital. She not only excelled in her medical career but also served her country honorably as an Air Force Veteran for five years as a Clinical Nurse, demonstrating her commitment to both her profession and her nation.
Barbara was much more than her professional achievements; she was a devoted grandmother who relished the time spent caring for her grandchildren. Alongside her passion for nurturing those around her, she also enjoyed sewing, creating beautiful items that were cherished by her loved ones.
She shared a special bond with her best friend, Phyllis, with whom she enjoyed frequent trips to yard sales and peddlers malls, creating memories that brought her great joy. Barbara’s vibrant spirit and engaging personality left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her father, Elmer Bath; her mother, Almeda Bath; and her son, Michael Rountree.
Barbara is survived by her two sons, Scott (Jackie) Rountree and Brandon (Sarah) Rountree; her sisters, Patricia Ann Bath and Linda Sue Bath; Grandchildren Isabeta Rountree, Aiyven Rountree, Adriel Rountree, and Declan Rountree, and her beloved best friend, Phyllis.
Barbara Jean Rountree will be remembered not only for her contributions as a nurse and veteran but also for her profound love for her family and friends. Her legacy of compassion and care will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Per Barbara's wishes cremation was chosen and she will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Central Cemetery (KVCC) North Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY,
