Barbara Powers, 61, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020. She was born on March 3,1958 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Thorton Smith and Mable Riley. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother and her sense of humor will be missed by everyone that knew her.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Tiffany Smith; her brother, Charles Bennett; an aunt, Geneva Watts; and a nephew, Chuck Bennett.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 46 years, Jerry Powers; a daughter, Daisy Smith; a granddaughter, Tabitha Smith; great grandchildren, Na'Shyia Whiteside, Da'Myia Egnew, Kashdon O'Neal and Khloe O'Neal; a sister, Brenda Sweatt; two nieces, Connie Bennett and JoAnn Sullivan; a nephew, Chris Bennett; her sister-in-law, Nancy Bennett; and her great niece, La'reonnia Sullivan.
A service to celebrate Barbara's life will take place at 12:00 pm on Monday, February 24, 2020 at Newcomer Southwest Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, with burial to follow in St. Stephens Cemetery. The family will accept guests for visitation prior to the service from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at the funeral home.
