Barbara Lee Pipes, born December 26, 1947, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, in New Albany, Indiana. Her passing marks the end of a beautiful chapter in the lives of her devoted family.

Barbara was the beloved daughter of Leonard and Sarah Spainhour. She grew up in Southern Indiana and attended New Albany High School. She worked at Fashion Shop and Save, National City Bank, and then First Harrison Bank where she retired.

A proud lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church, Barbara’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She found joy and purpose in her church community, and her strong beliefs brought her comfort while inspiring those around her.

Barbara's talents and passions enriched her life and those fortunate enough to share in them. A lover of gardening, she found solace and satisfaction in nurturing her plants, a reflection of the care she gave to everyone around her. She delighted in playing euchre, where her good nature and competitive spirit shone. Barbara enjoyed camping and boating, embracing the outdoors and creating cherished memories with family in the fresh air. Her artistic inclinations manifested in various creative pursuits that brightened her home and brought joy to loved ones.

Yet, above all else, Barbara Lee Pipes was most proud of her family, whom she cherished beyond measure. The time spent with her children and grandchildren was the joy of her life. Her home was filled with laughter, love, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime-each moment spent together became a treasure in her heart.

Barbara is survived by her loving daughters, Jennifer (Phil) Cooper and Melissa (Darrel) Burton. She leaves behind a legacy carried on by her granddaughters: Melia (Cyrus) Haygood, Michele Cooper, Morgan Cooper, and Adele Burton. While her family grieves her loss, they are profoundly grateful for the years they shared with such a remarkable mother and grandmother.

Preceding Barbara in death were her beloved husband of 52 years, William Louis Pipes and her parents, Leonard and Sarah Spainhour. Their memories, together with the legacy of Barbara's love, continue to live on in the hearts of her family.
