Barbara M. Nathan, age 94, peacefully passed away at her home in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 6, 2025, with her devoted daughter by her side. Born on September 21, 1930, in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Irma E. Fisel Holland and J.C. Fisel.
Barbara graduated from Atherton High School and dedicated herself to a career in nursing, ultimately earning her degree from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing following her studies at the University of Louisville and Norton Infirmary School. Throughout her life, she was actively involved in her community, serving as a member and past president of the Buechel Woman’s Club. She was also a proud member of the Past Presidents Leadership Council, a Kentucky Colonel, and was affiliated with several organizations including the Filson Club, the Historic Homes Foundation, and the Thorobreds. Her faith as a Lutheran was an integral part of her life.
She was predeceased by her cherished husband, Jim Nathan, a notable radio executive in Louisville. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Pam G. Nathan; her cousin, Sally Lairson (Tom) and their family; along with many loving friends who will miss her dearly.
The family expresses deep gratitude to the Hosparus team for their exceptional care, with a special thank you to Latonya Yelder for her invaluable assistance.
A visitation honoring Barbara's life will be held on Wednesday, May 14, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions East Chapel, located at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the to Kentucky Humane Society, American Lung and Asthma Association, Kosair Children's Hospital and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Barbara M. Natha’s legacy will endure through the love and memories she shared with those who knew her.
